Are you you're own eclipse?

ree

I see this pretty much, with every client.

There is talk of simple, beautiful, exciting things people are desperately trying to work towards...managing a long term condition in this fast paced, over medicated world, balancing it all without feeling guilty, creating new habits and changing old behaviour having realised what your time is really worth. And it's all exquisitely mapped out and sounds so possible.

And yet, nothing really changes.

Sound familiar?

Here are a few ways that you might be getting in your own way:

  • Speaking to yourself with words laced in negativity- "I have to, I should, I can't". Words carry energy. Positive alternatives like "I can, I want to, I get to" hold so much more power in helping you move forward

  • Trying to get a new outcome with an old system- sleeping late and waking late, spending too much time mindlessly scrolling, having the same conversation in the same room, taking the same route etc. What impact will it make to change one of those things? More time, different perspective, new ideas, a chance to take action...

  • Thinking of ALL you have to do, rather than breaking things down into smaller chunks and making them, dare I say easy!. I tell my clients, 'what can you do today to start that change?' It really is as simple as that

  • Taking the fun out of your desired change and telling yourself it if isn't difficult, its not worth it. Said who??! Why not make it fun and give yourself a better chance at sticking with it that way! Play your favourite music when doing the boring task, take the scenic route, involve a friend/loved one, treat yourself!

  • Holding onto beliefs you learnt as a child and blindly living by those today. 'I don't deserve nice things' 'I'm not as important as others' 'I have to work hard to get what I want'. Those are the thoughts that should change before doing anything else.

  • Procrastinating like a pro. Housework, junk emails, the washing, clearing your make up bag all need doing before anything that might mean you are accountable for starting any of those big, juicy plans. What are you saying to the universe if you put the important stuff at the back of the queue and prioritise the stuff that keeps you standing still*?

(*Clue: I don't want or deserve those lovely, amazing, nice things I want so much for myself and yet will happily wish for on anyone else)

Here is the thing though, we are human. Ever heard the expression 'you don't know what you don't know?' When you come to realise these patterns, you have the chance to change them and get an alternative outcome.

It's likely some, if not a few of these behaviours show up at some point.

Shedding light on where you get in your own way and how you can shift that to work for you, that aligns with your goals and gets you feeling inspired can create results quicker than you can imagine.

Tell me in the comments, how do you get in your way?
